26 May - 11.25am

We do believe we have found the cause of the huge outgoing traffic spike on this virtual container that was causing it to max out the switch port and cause the entire node to become unresponsive.  We have booted up the remaining one container that was the cause of the issues and everything looks normal for now.  We are continuing to monitor the server.

We apologise for those who were affected.  The 1 container that was the cause of the issue had extended downtime as we had to take the decision to keep this container off to ensure all other users had good uptime.

26 May - 9.38am

The secondary networking issue that was affecting multiple servers has now been resolved.  The priginal point of this post was to document an issue with a VPS node.  Remember a VPS Node is a physical server split into many containers. We tried to reboot the affected VPS Node and as soon as we started the container 43065 (server21.bigwetfish.co.uk) there was a huge traffic spike causing the entire server to fall over.  We have unfortunately had to leave 43065 (server21.bigwetfish.co.uk) turned off and we have rebooted the node again.  All VPS servers are now back on line again apart from the container 43065 (server21.bigwetfish.co.uk).

We are working with our team now to work out a way of beinging 43065 (server21.bigwetfish.co.uk)  back on line without having any effect on the rest of the network.  We need to determine what account on this server is causing this and kill that account but we cannot turn the server on and gain access without the massive traffic spike kicking us out almost immediately.

Our techs are working on this now.

Unfortunately there appears to be two separate issues affecting things now.  All the information below about the VPS node is correct but at this time there is a networking issue that we believe to be totally unrelated affecting the Maidenhead Data Centre.  This is causing packet loss across the board.  We are in contact with the dc at this time and are awaiting an update.  Until this issue is resolved we cannot start working to resolve this other issue.

We sincerely apologise for this.  If your server is running slowly yet cpanel status shows very low load then this is exactly why this is the case - there is packet loss.

We rebooted the node but immediately the traffic spike occured and the server became unresponsive  We are working with our 'remote hands' in the UK data centre now and will provide an update asap

26 May 2012 - 7.00am

We are having an issue with one of our VPS Nodes.  The node in question houses server 21 as well as a few small VPS server belonging to clients.  Unfortunately there is heavy outbound traffic that appears to be coming from Virtual Contaniner with ID 43065 (server21.bigwetfish.co.uk) and this is making this particular server inaccessibe at this time.  We are working to seek a resolution for this just now and will update this thread.  We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience.

If your VPS server is inaccessible at this time it is likely it is on this node.  There are 9 clients who have VPS servers on the affected node as well as the clients on Server 21
