Free Trial Issues

Hi Folks

We wanted to apologise if you are on a free trial and your account was suspended.  Here is how we usually do free trials:

  • Client places an order and we tell them not to pay
  • We mark the invoice as not due until 30 days later
  • We set the product not to suspend for 30 days

Everything works fine! until last week where we updated our WHMCS Software.  We started to get tickets asking why we had suspended accounts that were still in the trial period.  We have looked into this and it appears this is a known bug in the latest WHMCS software release.

There is a patch for this in this latest version from last week and we are updating this tonight.  We apologise again if you were affected.  Moving forward we are going to start working free trials how we should have been doing it all aloing and use a promo code to cancel the first invoice.  This takes the reliance on a WHMCS  'Do Not Suspend Until' field out of the equation.
