At approximately 5pm server 26 appeared to be off line. We assumed there was an issue with the server requiring a simple reboot. We attempted to enter the server via the IPMI connction but it was timing out. We therefore asked the data centre to perform a reboot on the server. The reboot was completed and yet again IPMI was not working meaning we had no way to console into the server to check. We assumed it perhaps was undergoing an fsck and we let it sit.
After a short period of time we realised something was not right and we have escalated this issue to the data centre technicians to physically check this server as somethig is not right.
As of 7pm we are able to access the server via any secondary IPs but the main shared IP is not pinging. This appears to be a networking issue that the techncians in the data centre are checking. It is most unfortunate this is not something we realised an hour ago and we could have avoided the delay of the reboot that was perhaps not needed.
The server came back on line at 8pm. The issue was an IP conflict that did unfortunately require the intervention of the data centre staff to resolve.
We apologise for this issue on this server that comes after last weekends rebuild. We appreciate your frustration and ask you to remember that before last weekend this server had many many months with 100% uptime. According to our announcements thread the last issue with this server was a minor issue in January 2013 and before that the last downtime we have recorded was when DIMEnoc UK moved to a new facility in July 2012.
