VPS4 Reboot (Scheduled Maintenance)

As part of our ongoing investment to provide the best experience possible for all clients we are rolling out CDP (Continuous Data Protection) backups on all OpenVZ Nodes.  This backup solution will ensure we have an up to date backup of the entire node so we can use the 'Bare Metal Restore' feature in the event of hardware failure.  This is a significant investment on our part.  Clients are still encouraged to take our cost effective individual server backup solution in addition to the included CDP on the main node.

VPS4 needs to be booted into a new Linux Kernel as the current Kernel is not compatible with our Idera R1Soft CDP (Continuous Data Proection) backup scipt.

The node will be shut down at 2am UK time on Monday 23 September 2013 and will be rebooted.

Whilst we appreciate uptime is vitally important for all clients, working backup is also critical.  This reboot time has been chosen to be the least busy time on the server and we hope you will not be inconvenienced.  We are allowing a 180 minute time frame for this maintenance due to how OpenVZ may need to recalculate quotas when the containers restart.  We do not anticipate the outage being anywhere near 3 hours and in best case containers will start up again within 20 minutes.

We thank you for your patience while we ensure our CDP Backups are set up on this node.
