We were alerted by our monitoring systems to a data centre wide outage in the Maidstone UK data centre we use. This happened at 2.56am. We immediately reached out to determine the cause and we were told this was 'scheduled maintenance'.
BWF Management were alerted as part of our emergency response policy to such a major outage and they confirmed no notification had been received from our providers. We have diligently searched all emails and also checked September tickets opened to us from this provider. It does appear although this apparently was scheduled maintenance they did not alert us to this.
We have just reached out to the front line live chat support of this provider and they say they knew there was Scheduled Maintenace but could not re-send the notification email nor did they know the reason for the scheduled maintenance. They have opened a higher level support ticket and a system administrator will let us know the reason for this maintenance in due course. Once we get that we will post it here.
We all understand that maintenance is a necessary part of running a data centre. We do apologise we did not inform clients of this outage in advance but to the best of our knowledge we did not receive any advance notice from our data centre about this.
At this time servers appear to be back on line and uptime logs show the servers were not technically down and this was just a networking issue.
