ENOM DNS Outage

Just an update.  ENOM appear to have resolved these issues and we are seeing websites returning back to normal.

Why were only some clients affected?  - we use ENOM for our older name servers and we did not see any need to change thois even after we deployed our DNS cluster.   The sites pointed to bwfdns.net  name servers on our own cluster are not affected by this outage.  ENOM have had a rock solid DNS performance for many years but nevertheless we are starting work to move all name servers still relying on ENOM to our DNS Cluster.

We are sorry for this outage caused by a third party supplier.  We will post a RFO - Reason for Outage the moment we have it.

We are seeing many clients reporting their websites are down.  It would appear ENOM (one of our domain providers) are suffering a massive DNS outage.  Our servers are all up and working but this issue appears to be with the registry ENOM.

We are awaiting updates.

At ths pont there are a number of options for clients who are affected but we are waiting 30 minutes to hear if ENOM resolve their issues as the fix involves re-pointing the name servers for every affected server.

Clients on VPS Servers using BWFDNS.ORG  and  BWFDNS.COM  name servers are affected due to us using ENOM Name Servers for this domain.  Ideally this is not the best way to have this setup as there is a dependene on ENOM - that said in ten years this has not been an issue before.  Nothing can be done just now about this but we will review this asap.    Clients on VPS Servers using BWFDNS.NET  name servers are not affected as these are set up using our DNS Cluster.  We need to start moving BWFDNS.ORG to use our Cluster to break that dependence on ENOM.

Once we have information from ENOM we will update this post.
