We have seen a number of helpdesk tickets today from VPS and Dedicated Server clients about an email they have received from their servers. This announcement will hopefully explain what this email is and why there is nothing to be concerned about.
If you are a VPS or Dedicated Server client running cPanel you may have noticed that cPanel has recently updated to version v52. This brings many advantages and we will be releasing a blog post later today with what has changed.
One such change is an email alert where clients are being informed that they have a number of unmonitored services in cPanel. Essentially this is referring to the cPanel chkservd service, where it monitors critical services and if they fail it automatically (or automagicly as they call it) will restart the failed service. This is very useful as should the Apache service fail, for example, the server will automically restart it in a short space of time thus any major preventing downtime. Were chkservd not enabled and were a servcie to fail, it would remain down until someone logged in and manually restarted it.
If you receive this email, it is just alerting you to the fact that some services are not being monitored and it is inviting you to enable monitoring for these services.
You can fix this yourself by logging into WHM and selecting the 'Service Manager' option. Once in there simply check the boxes of the services you wish to monitor in the graphical interface and click save. Alternatively, this can be done in SSH by running this command: whmapi1 enable_monitor_all_enabled_services
Of course fully managed clients can just pop a ticket in and we can sort this for you.
