This is advance notice of a server upgrade.
Server 11 whilst works well has an older cpu and older architecture. We plan to replace server 11 with a brand new state of the art server on March 2nd starting at 11pm UK time.
The process will involve an overnight period of downtime as we need to physically copy the data from the old server to the new server. We will start this at off peak times and will do all we can to complete this as fast as possible.
The new server will have the following characteristics:
- 50% more RAM than the current server - faster RAM as well
- 4 additional CPU cores on the latest intel chips
- New Adaptec RAID card with Write Cache enabled (with Battery Backup) for better read performance
